Salisbury Steak

Homemade Salisbury steak from scratch is worlds away from what you’ll find in the freezer aisle. We’re reviving the traditional recipe for an easy weeknight dinner dish focused on freshness, with all the comforting flavor you’d expect if you ordered this at a down-home diner.

Making Salisbury steak is so simple: our recipe starts with well-seasoned ground beef mixed with Worcestershire sauce and breadcrumbs, shaped into oval patties, then pan-fried in butter on both sides and smothered in rich, glossy onion gravy. Waiting for the onions to get really nice and caramelized is well worth the extra minutes — they add a depth of flavor that’ll make you forget the school cafeteria Salisbury steaks of your childhood.

Put together a perfect nostalgic meal with a side of creamy mashed potatoes, buttered green peas, and an extra helping of that gravy.

Salisbury Steak Recipe

This homemade Salisbury steak is “lick-the-plate” good. A great Salisbury steak begins and ends with a great gravy. The real highlight comes from all the flavors that simmer into the meat from our delicious gravy recipe. Be sure to check out the video below to see how it all comes together effortlessly.

Honey Roasted Carrots

Brown Butter Garlic Honey Roasted Carrots – the best roasted carrots ever with lots of garlic, brown butter and honey. SO good!

Little G loves carrots and I am always making carrots for him at home. However, as a picky eater, he only likes baby carrots. Come to think about it, everyone loves baby carrots. There is nothing not to love about mini-sized carrots, such as this amazing and absolutely addictive brown butter garlic honey roasted carrots.

Now, why brown butter? Well, brown butter is just better. Basically brown butter is butter cooked over over medium heat. As the butter melts, it will begin to foam and turn golden brown in color. That’s when I start to saute some garlic, add the carrots and honey to the skillet. I finish the dish in the oven by roasting it for 20 minutes, and the end result is this tender, garlicky, buttery, and slightly sweet carrots.

This brown butter garlic honey roasted carrots is becoming my favorite roasted carrot recipes (click to check out the recipes). Serve it as a side dish to almost everything you make and I will assure you that everyone will love it, including the pickiest eaters.

Stuffed Sweet Potatoes

20 minute meal! These Buffalo Chicken Stuffed Sweet Potatoes are topped with a light blue cheese yogurt sauce. An easy weeknight dinner recipe!

I have a few friends that are queens of weeknight dinner prep. They wield their knives like pros, putting slow cookers and Instant Pots to use at least a few times per week. And then there is another group of friends who are killing it in other areas of their lives, but just can’t get on top of their weeknight dinner game. And me? I fall smack dab in the middle of the two…meal planning aficionado one week and a hot mess the next.

These Buffalo Chicken Stuffed Sweet Potatoes were inspired by my Turkey Taco Stuffed Sweet Potatoes, one of the most popular recipes on my site. And maybe a little bit of inspiration comes from the fact that it’s 98 degrees today. In Seattle. In September. And I’m ready for jeans and sweater weather, and all-things-squash-and-pumpkin.

Chicken Pasta

Cheesecake Factory Copycat Louisiana Chicken Pasta with Parmesan, mushrooms, peppers and onions in a spicy cajun cream sauce.

Louisiana Chicken Pasta, my third favorite Cheesecake Factory Copycat is actually easier than you’d believe given the long list of ingredients. My two favorite Cheesecake Factory items, Spicy Cashew Chicken and Tamale Corn Cakes are my go-to order, without fail.

What’s so great about this Louisiana Chicken Pasta? Well first of all the chicken is super crispy, seasoned with cajun spices and Parmesan Cheese. The sauce is creamy with a cajun bite and the veggies are a nice textural dimension. It’s all about cream, spice, cheese, chicken and pasta done well.

So does it feel like spring where you live, too? We are having a MAJOR warm-up….and we couldn’t be loving it more. We spent the weekend in sandals, with the windows wide open, and I’m pretty sure the girls played outside more than they have in the last 3 months combined. And I have to say. IT WAS AMAZING.

One of my favorite parts of spring is the fact that you can suddenly get GOOD fresh produce again. Seriously – winter is long. And even though the produce is there….it’s just not the same! I’m ready for all the fruits and veggies I’ve been missing. And fresh green beans are high on the list.

Beef and Broccoli Ramen

One Skillet Beef and Broccoli Ramen. Everything you love about beef and broccoli but with ramen noodles!

If you are a fan of beef and broccoli you will love this dish! I took my favorite Beef and Broccoli recipe and doubled the sauce and added tons of noodles. To me the noodles are the best part!

I used the ramen noodles found in the international food isle in the grocery store. You can also find these at your local Asian grocer or online. You can also substitute regular ramen soup noodles (just forgo the seasoning packets).

The sauce is made up of water, beef broth, soy sauce, garlic, oyster sauce, brown sugar and sesame oil. Cornstarch is added at the end to thicken up the sauce.

For a little spice I added in some sriracha sauce. You can always add more to taste or add in some crushed red pepper flakes for a kick.

Beef and Broccoli

Try this easy recipe for authentic Chinese beef and broccoli with white rice.

Beef and broccoli is a staple dish that you’ll find at nearly all Chinese American restaurants — along with other favorites such as fried wontons, kung pao chicken, egg rolls, and Mongolian beef. I love beef and broccoli because (a) I can’t resist anything with tender and tasty strips of flank steak, and (b) it’s such an easy one-pan stir fry recipe. Also, if you’re a huge broccoli fan like me, you’ll love these juicy and flavorful bites of broccoli in between mouthfuls of meat and rice.

Beef and broccoli is a delicious meal to enjoy for lunch or dinner, and leftovers reheat well in the microwave. I usually serve it with cooked white rice. There’s a decent amount of sauce that comes with this recipe, so you’ll want some rice to help sop up the sauce. Yum.
